Trick or Treat

Bats were fluttering, spiders were crawling & the sky appeared gloomy on this moon-less night. Alright it was just my imagination running wild.
ACM opened its doors to celebrate Halloween. As Angelina, Hafizah & I made our way to our destination on the drizzling night, ACM with its lighting effects really made it looked like a haunted mansion.
Overall it had a US feel to it as the whole atmosphere resembled a party. ACM was like a bungalow & we were the party guests wondering around, having fun. The 3 of us proceeded to explore the premises & took photographs (as usual). The decorations were awesome too!
Just before we left, we each got a drink, compliments of Bacardi. & with the drink in hand, Hafizah refused to take our photographs with her camera as we were deemed haram. Oh well. Thanks too to Angelina's friend who drove us home.
Anyway it was a scare-less night but it was fun seeing many spooks roaming the streets. It was indeed a fun night out & I'm looking forward to next year.
Happy Halloween everyone!

Weight Of A Glass Of Water‏

A lecturer was giving a lecture to his students on stress management. He raised a glass of water & asked the audience, "How heavy do you think this glass of water is?"
"It depends on how long you hold it."
"If I hold it for a minute, it is okay."
"If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm."
"If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance."
"It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."
"If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier."
"What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it up again."
We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can be refreshed & are able to carry on. Don't carry your burdens for too long. It'll drain you of all your energy, physically, mentally & emotionally. When you return home from work, put the burden of work down. Don't carry it into your home. You can pick it up tomorrow. & don't try to carry a burden too heavy for yourself. Don't try to carry the weight of the world upon your shoulders. You're not superman. You're only human. We all are.

Singapore's White House

The Istana usually opens its grounds to the public during certain occasions & today (which is Deepavali) is the last day in 2009 where it's open so of course I was found there!
Hafizah & I went very early & cleared security with a breeze (by the time we left around 1030, the queue was forming). It was an extremely long walk from the gate to the main area. It resembles a little forest! Jurong Bird Park brought down some of their parrots, among other artifacts like some owls figurines & eggs of an ostrich & an emu & boy are they big!
Proceeded to roam the premises & we finally reached the Istana Building, after an extremely long walk. It costs $2 to enter the building to view what's inside but we didn't fork the money out. In the end, we just snap some photos here & there before finally making our way out.
Managed to take a photo with a SAF guard too! (Although I would prefer if it were a commando.) Oh well, at least I still have a photo with the #1 ceremonial uniform now!
Happy Deepavali people!

Be Thankful Always

Once God sent 2 angels, R & K down to earth. He gave them both each a box & to R He said, "Go down among the people & collect their prayer requests & bring them back to Me."
He told K, "Go down & gather all the praises & gratitude from the people & bring them back to Me."
R & K did as they were told & went down promptly among the people, doing what God had told them to do. After a day of hard work, both R & K got ready to return to heaven. R was struggling back to heaven but K's journey was easy. Back in heaven, both R & K reported back to God. R returned to God a box that was filled to the brim but K had a box that was rather empty.
We never fail to turn to God whenever we have requests, needs, desires & the likes. However when they are granted or whenever we are blessed, we often neglect to thank Him for being so wonderful to us in our lives. Let us never forget to thank God whenever we are blessed, whether in large or small ways. Let K bring back an overflowing box to God the next time!

Fresh from the U.d.d.e.r.s

Before you start imaging me milking a cow, U.d.d.e.r.s is an ice cream cafe that sells many unique flavors under 3 main areas, i.e. liqueur flavor, Asian-inspired flavor & cosmopolitan flavor. Over at the ice cream bar, they provide samples so you can choose the flavor desired most before making your purchase! It is indeed a delicious venue for dessert! Go try it!

The Southern Ridges

Joined Ms. Chua's cell group for a walk at The Southern Ridges. It was indeed a wonderful outing. We started our walk from The Jewel Box. During the walk, we did a couple of activities like celebrating the September birthdays, played a game (where we had to use 4 oranges, 1 banana & 2 pairs of chopsticks to construct a F1 car) & we even had a picnic!
We set our footprints at Henderson Waves, Forest Walk & Alexandra Arch, doing a total of 3km. Anyway this is definitely easier than the HSBC Treetop Walk as it's cement pavement & the length of the Forest Walk is longer.
Our final stop: HortPark! This is a beautiful park & it resembles the kind of garden I would love to have if I had the land area.
Finally it was off to Changi Village for dinner. It was indeed an awesome day discovering another interesting spot of Singapore & getting to know a bunch of funny people!
If anyone is geared for the full 9km walk at The Southern Ridges in future, do call me!

A Week of Delicacies

Korean Cuisine Tuesday 8 September 09
Visited Your Woul (a restaurant opened by a Korean lady) as I had a craving for Korean food & it was a yummy lunch (set lunches are $9.90). However the food is really spicy!!! The banchan (variety of side dishes) were delicious too & it is free-flow!! There is this drink (Korean tea or traditional fruit punch) called Sujeonggwa (made from dried persimmons, cinnamon & ginger & if often garnished with pine nuts. It's flavor is mildly hot & spicy & at the same time sweet) which is extremely refreshing!!
Seafood Feast Wednesday 9 September 09
Went Ah Yat Seafood Abalone Restaurant (阿一海鲜) at Turf City & it was a fun experience! There was an area where there were numerous tanks full of live seafood for customers to choose. Overall it was a sumptuous family dinner (crabs, bamboo clams, abalones) & I even managed to bring home 4 abalone shells as a keepsake.
Japanese Pasta Friday 11 September 09
Met up with Serena (& got my birthday present from London!!!) & we dined at The Pasta Shop by Sakae at Wheelock Place. It featured a large variety of pastas & they have certain pastas which are "locations-specialised". I took the Australian Fish & Chips pasta. It was a new flavor definitely! A BIG THANKS goes out to Serena for the dinner treat!!!
Hotpot Saturday 12 September 09
Had an interesting dinner today at JPOT ( 珍宝火锅). Basically it is a seafood restaurant. Customers each have a pot of soup to cook the seafood in. It was indeed a wonderful experience dining at JPOT. & for dessert, I got to eat 芒果刨冰!! Yummy yummy!!
